Christian d'Agostin Applies the Power

It was wall to wall V8's at the front of the grid and wall to wall Porsche 944's at the rear of the field, with a few other makes mixed in between, in a great two races in one class.
RACE 1: Seasoned campaigners in Tom Hutchinson (Triumph TR8) and \mort Fitzgerald (MGBV8) were the front rowers after qualifying, but it was last year's Chanpion, Lyndon Punshon (KWP Robnell), who was off the line like a rocket to take an early lead. The MGBGTV8s of Rob Peckett and Andrew McDowell started from the rear of the grid but were soon up with the leaders.
Calvin Pusterla (A porschapart 944) led the second race from Dennis O'Keefe (944) with Peter Clark (MGBV8) and Dean King (Sprite) fighting their way through the field surrounded by a horde of Porsches and the Lotus Elise of Martin Cole.
Hutchinson flew down the main straight on the second lap to take the lead, a position he held to the finish from Punshon, with Fitzgerald leading home the MG's. In a tight tussle in the mid?field Paul Faulkner (944) led home Pusterla, O'Keefe and Garth Rainsbury (944) in the mini 'Porche Cup'.
RACE 2: Punshon made a blinder of a start in this race with Christian D'Agostin (GV Python) and Tom Cantwell (240Z) starting from the rear of the field, which was a pretty awesome sight as they weaved their way through the field down to the first corner.
Early in the race it was Punshon from Hutchinson, Fitzgerald, Peckett and McDowell, then D'Agostin and Cantwell side by side followed by King, with Faulkner leading the Porsches and Cole sandwiched between nine 944's.
Punshon and Hutchinson went side by side through the back straight kink as they pulled away from the others with Hutchinson opening a good little break over the closing laps to win from Punshon, Fitzgerald and Peckett. Matthew Gaut (944) was a big improver in the Porsches finishing just behind Faulkner, O'Keefe and Rainsbury in eleventh place.
POINTSCORE:
Punshon won the start this time and as they went up the back straight his main opponent, D'Agostin; was right on his tail.
Hutchinson was the cheeky one when he went inside D'Agostin into MG corner, forcing him out wide allowing Fitzgerald to also get through. King was in sixth place with Cantwell all over him, then McDowell and Clark followed by Faulkner, Rainsbury, O'Keefe, Gaut, Cole, Loui Vamvas, Scott Botterill, Matthew Whyte and Robert Patterson (944's).
Punshon, Fitzgerald and Hutchinson opened a break over D'Agostin, who had Peckett hounding him. In a desperate struggle right to the end, Punshon just held out Fitzgerald.
Cantwell finally picked off King over Lukey Heights to finish sixth, and Faulkner grabbed a top ten finish when he led home the Porsches.
